OATMEAL: NATURE'S BEAUTY SECRET

These days, we all want cleaner, healthier ingredients in our food and personal products. With so many choices and much information to process, it can be overwhelming and frustrating to figure out what body wash to use! Not everyone has time to be a "Frontier Woman" and start making their own lye soap, lol! Here's where oatmeal steps in. It's versatile, effective, healthy, familiar, and easy to use. You can literally use oatmeal from head-to-toe! Let me give you just a few examples...

Oatmeal Hair Conditioner

It might be common knowledge that oatmeal is rich in antioxidants, minerals, ferulic acid, and vitamin E, but we need to take advantage of oatmeal's superpower as a hair conditioner. Oats provide strength AND moisture to the hair, while helping the scalp maintain its pH balance. This quick conditioning mix can be used as a pre-poo treatment, detangler, and rinse out conditioner. Feel free to adjust the measurements according to the length and density of your hair.

1/2 cup oatmeal

1/3 cup rice (optional)

1/2 cup of water

4-5 tablespoons of coconut cream

To prepare your conditioner, you have the option of using a hot process or a cold one. For the cold option, add all the ingredients to a jar: stir thoroughly, close the lid, and place in your refrigerator for an hour. Strain before use.

To process your oatmeal conditioner with heat: Blend the rice and oatmeal until they are finely ground, pour into a small saucepan with the water, and bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring often. After 5-7 minutes, strain your mixture, add the coconut cream, and your conditioner is ready to be applied!

Options:

Add honey, glycerin, banana, avocado, or your favorite oil for a deeper conditioning effect.

Add a tablespoon of your regular conditioner.

After applying your oatmeal conditioner, cover your hair with plastic or a warm towel for 10 -15 minutes for increased moisture retention.

Oatmeal Hair Gel

Commercial hair gels are notorious for drying out our hair and wrecking our edges. Oatmeal gel could be the answer that you're looking for! Your curls and coils will be hydrated and defined, while your scalp and follicles will be protected and nourished.
